Playa Burriana If you are looking for some more action and numerous facilities then the Playa Burriana will be the perfect place to go. Just below the centre of Nerja, with a winding path through the rocks heading down to the beach is the Playa Burriana. It will take about 20 minutes to get there from the town centre but therefore you will be able to enjoy the most magnificent views. This beach is the largest one in the town and offers a wide range of facilities such as shops and restaurants. The shore consists of both fine sand and small pebbles but is comfortable and easy to walk or jog on. Like on most beaches you will be able to hire deckchairs and parasols which is a great advantage for many of those who want to spend an entire day here. After a refreshing swim or having practised water sports one can visit a café or a restaurant to re-gain energy. Day cruises are also available here.
Playa Torrecilla The Playa Torrecilla can be found close to the centre of Nerja and is an ideal place for those who prefer a quieter atmosphere. Due to recent improvements, the beach is now wider and offers more space. Soft sand and shallow water make it also attractive to families with young children. To fully enjoy the calm sea one can hire sun beds as well as parasols.
Playa el Salon The Playa el Salon beach is located within a charming and protective bay. From the Balcon de Europa you will have to go right, along a cobbled and winding walkway which starts between the church and a hotel. As it is not the easiest beach to find, it is a very well kept secret and ideal for a quiet and tranquil day in the sun. It is relatively small but due to the lack of tourists you will still find it fairly empty. The Caballito del Mar beach bar offers drinks and snacks during most of the summer.
Playa Calahonda Also known as the "fishermen’s beach", the Playa Calahonda is right beside the Balcon de Europa. Rocks and cliffs surround this small and sheltered beach and guarantee a private atmosphere which is also provided due to the relatively small size. There is hardly any wind and the sand is soft with small pebbles. Sun beds and parasols are available for hire and a restaurant can also be found here.
Please note that the walkway that leads from the Balcon de Europa down to the Playa Calahonda is fairly steep and therefore probably not ideal for small children or elderly people.
Playazo Beach The Playazo Beach is by far the longest beach in the town and finds itself located near Torrecilla beach. It can be easily access by car and is perfect for a family pick nick or a barbecue with friends. It is flat but very rocky beach that stretches over 2 kilometres. Go for a stroll along the beach and you will come along a number of chiringuitos as well as the Hotel Marinas de Nerja.
Due to the beach’s structure, it is less busy than other beaches. There are also fewer bars and restaurants available here as most people visiting the beach only go for a stroll or a jog. Despite that, there are still showers and toilets provided during the summer months.
